PAD is sometimes referred to as \u201cwindow shopper\u2019s disease\u201d, since patients frequently are forced to stop because of exercise-related pains in the legs. Patients suffering from peripheral arterial disease are up to three times more likely to suffer a heart attack or a stroke. The increased risk does not only apply to symptomatic patients, but also to patients that have asymptomatic constrictions.
